Mahachi gets new wheels

Mahachi’s contract with the Gamecocks expired at the end of last year and has been reportedly trying to join city rivals Highlanders before deciding to pen a one-year contract extension with the Mandla Mpofu-coached side.

“This is our way of giving back to the community.

“We are recognising talent and our small donation must be seen as a way of motivating players to be loyal and committed.

“Personally the young man excites me when he plays,” said Neeraf’s operations manager Nqobizitha Nyathi.

Nyathi said it was their hope that the donation would not turn the 2012 Soccer Star of the Year finalist into a big headed boy but will instead motivate him to become a mature and responsible player.

Speaking after being given keys to the Honda Fit car at a small presentation ceremony at White City Stadium yesterday, Mahachi said the car was going to make his travelling especially to training much easier and encouraged his colleagues to work hard so that they too could attract such sponsorship.

“I am really happy and grateful to Neeraf for the kind gesture,” said a clearly overwhelmed Mahachi.

He said the first thing he will do was to get a driver’s licence as he did not want to have problems with law enforcement agents.

Chicken Inn chairman Lifa Ncube advised the player against falling into temptations of driving the car without a licence.
