ZIMBABWE international Kudakwashe Mahachi’s Ghanaian side Medeama SC had a great start in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) champions league preliminary round first leg tie after they edged Remo Stars 1-0 at Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday.
Jonathan Sowah, who seems to have dribbled into Mahachi’s heart, scored the decisive goal from outside the box in the 21st minute.
“First win, well done Ogaaahhh Roomza for your first champions league goal. Never give up,” posted Mahachi on his Facebook account yesterday.
Sowah became the first player to score for Medeama SC in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League campaign.
The forward has reportedly scored 13 goals in 21 games for Medeama SC in all competitions
Mahachi, who has been clubless for close to 18 months, joined the Ghanaian outfit just before the close of the transfer deadline.
For the Zimbabwean it has been a case of from ashes to classics and the midfielder has admitted that there is a lot of pressure at his new club where he signed a one year contract.
The ginger haired player had spent a lengthy period on the sidelines following his release by Supersport United due to allegations of child abuse on his four-year-old son Diego.
According to Ghana Football website, the diminutive player said he is ready to face the pressure and work hard to earn a place in the first team.
Mahachi, who also previously did duty for Orlando Pirates, Golden Arrows and Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa’s Super Diski said: “As you know the pressure is too high because the team won the league last season so for now, we need to maintain that. As new players, we need to work hard and follow what they did last year.”
Having monitored the training sessions of Medeama SC, Mahachi said that he was impressed.
He is now confident the team will be able to overcome Remo Stars in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
Remo Stars will need to score two goals without conceding in the reverse fixture to move to the next round.
The second leg will be held in Nigeria next Sunday. —@FungaiMuderere
