Meet Simba, Bosso90’s rock in midfield

HIGHLANDERS Football Club developmental side Bosso90 have a midfield maestro in the making in Simbarashe Madzivire.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder joined the Melusi “Mabaleka” Sibanda coached Bosso 90 last season from Southern Region Division Two side FMSA Umguza.

Since then, he has been one of the most important players in the side as he plays a pivotal role in making sure that he wins the midfield battles and links attacks with forward players.

“I think what has made me thrive in the team is that the coaches believed in my strengths and helped me improve on them. The fact that they do not demand a lot but encourage me to improve on my strengths helps me to become better. It’s all about working hard at our training sessions,” said Madzivire

He has previously represented Zimbabwe at international level as he has been capped three times with the Under 17 national team that travelled to Mauritius for the Cosafa Cup in 2018.

During his time with FMSA Umguza, he was part of the four players that toured Europe alongside Oscar Sibanda, goalkeeper Mbizo Tshuma and Lexington Mujokoro who is the son to former Highlanders midfield maestro Farai.

They quartet played in the Gothia Cup in Sweden and Madzivire scored three goals and provided five assists in eight matches.

The four players also played in the Dana Cup in Denmark and Madzivire scored one goal and provided four assists in four matches.

The midfielder, who started his career with Matabeleland Warriors, also praised his former coach at FMSA Umguza Dazzy Kapenya.

“He is a football legend and to be coached by him was a dream come true. I learnt a lot from him during my time at FMSA and I am still implementing the lessons I learnt from him even now,” said Madzivire.

At Bosso 90, Madzivire made 23 appearances last season and scored one goal.

This season he has provided six assists and he has scored twice and provided four assists.

He scored in Bosso90’s last match which they won 2-1 against Mosi Rovers before his side toured Jwaneng Town of Botswana for the General Manager’s tournament, a contest in which they finished in second place.

After the mid-season break, his side will travel to Hwange to face second placed ZPC Hwange at Ingagula Stadium.
