Maharaj ruled out of second Test against Zimbabwe

SOUTH Africa left-arm spinner and stand in captain, Keshav Mahara has been ruled out of the second Test against Zimbabwe at Queens Sports Club due to a left arm groin strain.

The 35 year old sustained the injury while batting on day three of the first Test on Monday and is set to fly back to South Africa for further assessment to determine the extent of his injury.

Senuran Muthusamy has been named as his replacement, while all-rounder Wiaan Mulder will lead the side in the second Test, which begins on Sunday at the same venue.

Cricket South Africa also announced that fast bowler Lungi Ngidi, who was set to join the squad on Wednesday, has been released to give the seamers who impressed in the first Test another opportunity to build on their performances.
