South African award winning gospel sensation Solly Mahlangu paid tribute to late reggae artistes Lucky Dube and Bob Marley at a gospel concert held in Harare Gardens on Saturday.
Mahlangu sang hits “Different Colours” and “One Love” by Lucky Dube and Bob Marley that put fans in ecstatic frenzy.
The concert was part of the annual Open Heavens crusade organised by Apostolic Faith Mission Shiloh Word Miracle Centre who have also brought South African gospel artiste Keke in the past crusade.

Local popular artistes who performed include Pastor Charles Charamba, Mathias Mhere, Sebastian Magacha, Dudu Manhenga, worship addicts among others.

The performance by various artistes put everyone in a merry mood jovially singing along to gospel music.
In an interview, Reverend Onismo Sasa said the main goal of the concert was to win souls to Christ.

“The gospel concert is held after every Open Heavens Crusade to strengthen people’s faith to Christ.
“We understand the power of music to reach out people that is why we brought various gospel artistes from different generations such as Pastor Charamba and Mhere with the hope that someone will turn to Christ,” he said.

Rev Sasa reiterated the concert’s theme was “Greater Glory” from biblical Haggai 2:9 meaning today’s church shall be more glorious than yesterday’s. More than 5 000 fans attended the concert. Mahlangu invited Manhenga, Magacha and Mathias Mhere to perform with him.
Mahlangu said there was difference between gospel artistes and born again Christian who sings gospel music.
