Mahommed Mussa accident victim to be buried today

Ephraim Shonhiwa (42), Phibeon Moyo (30) and Stephen Samuel Nyariri (40) who worked for Grid Transmission Pvt, Ltd and had been contracted to build a veranda roof at the shop along Orr Street in the central business district were also injured during the accident.

A memorial service was held at Doves Funeral Service and was later taken to Chandadya’s Snake Park home with the assistance of Grid Transmission Company.
Chandadya is survived by his wife Emillia Madziva (24) and two children.

The Herald attended the funeral wake, at house number 2402 Granary Phase 2, Snake Park where mourners expressed concern over the shop owner’s absence.
“Why is Mahommed not here? If he was afraid he could have sent his representatives just to console us because that’s our culture. As a business person, he should have offered food. We are starving at this funeral,” said Simanga Kalema the deceased’s aunt.

“I got the information about my husband’s death from my stepfather who was in town. I am still in shock. I have a query on the state of the building that he was working on. I thank the support that I got from his employer. They bought the coffin, food and provided transport,” Ms Madziva said.

Mahommed Mussa Wholesalers had shut down the premises leaving most customers stranded for they were not informed as to when the business would resume.
“Mahomed Mussa wholesalers while responsible for the building we are not into the construction industry and as soon as we heard of the mishap, we immediately stopped business as a mark of respect for the deceased and because we value the life of the builder and the injured in this accident we are working with their company to establish their families details so that we can render our assistance during their bereavement and recovery,’’ read a statement from the company.
Harare Police Spokesperson, Inspector Tedius Chibanda said investigation were still in progress as to ascertain the cause of the accident.
