POLICE in Mashonaland East are investigating a suspected murder case after a 52-year-old man allegedly killed his 50-year-old wife following a domestic dispute before taking his own life in Mahusekwa.

The incident occurred in Mureverwi Village under Chief Nenguwo.

It is alleged that the man fatally attacked his wife after a misunderstanding over suspected infidelity before committing suicide.

The couple’s bodies were reportedly discovered by their 13-year-old daughter when she returned home from school.

Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi confirmed the incident.

“The accused person, Patrick Chamunorwa (52), who was staying in South Africa, returned home this month of July, 2026,” he said.

“Since his return, he had been having domestic disputes with his wife (Doreen Bvuta) over infidelity issues.

“On July 20, 2026, around 5 pm, a daughter to the now deceased came back from school and entered the bedroom.

“She discovered the body of her mother in a pool of blood. She also noticed a hammer which was near her mother’s body. The daughter also noticed her father’s body hanging from the roof.”

Inspector Chazovachiyi said the daughter informed Tayengwa Kanengoni about the tragedy, and a police report was immediately made.

He said the bodies were conveyed to Mahusekwa District Hospital Mortuary for postmortem.
