Motivational speaker Mrs Lucia Gunguwo almost lost 40 000 bricks worth over $5 000 at her Dzivaresekwa stand to a 29-year-old thief. Petros Shoko of number 62/6 Zimuto Street Dzivaresekwa 3 appeared in court yesterday charged with theft.
He pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Trevor Nyatsanza. Mrs Gunguwo said she received a tip off that her bricks were being stolen and reacted swiftly.
“When I arrived at my stand after receiving a phone call from an unknown person, the bricks where strewn all over indicating that someone had tampered with them.
“I was shown the truck which was used to carry the bricks at the police station,” she said.
The State is alleging that on October 24 this year, Mrs Gunguwo received a phone call from an unknown person alerting her that a thief was on her stand. She rushed to the scene and discovered someone had tampered with the bricks.
