GOSPEL musician  Mai Mwamuka was the biggest winner in last night’s ROIL Bulawayo Arts Awards as she walked away with the People’s Choice Award which came with a fully serviced housing stand.

Mai Mwamuka (pictured top on Page one) also won the Outstandng Gospel Artiste Award. A number of companies have already pledged building material for the three-bedroomed house to be built at Cowdray park suburb.

Commenting on the awards, United Refineries Limited chief executive officer, Mr Busisa Moyo whose Roil brand were the main sponsors said the awards were the best ever in the past five years.

“We are happy, these were the best awards since we partnered them, what excited us was that the biggest winner got a stand and hence our hope is that come next year the awards will be bigger and better,” said Mr Moyo.

Sunday News, which also sponsored the Best Newcomer Award, saw the gong go to Gwanda based Sandra Sibanda while the Best Arts Journalist Award went to our sister paper Chronicle’s Mthabisi Tshuma.
