ALICK Macheso’s wife, Nyadzisai, is a fan of Simon Mutambi.
She pampered the singer with R1000 when he unveiled his 10th album at Eastpoint (formerly Jazz 105) last Thursday.
The news was delivered by Macheso, who was the guest of honour.
“I was given this money by Mai Sharo to deliver to you since she likes your music.
“She is humbled by what you have been doing for our family.
“This shows that we are now more than family,” said Macheso.
The sungura king also gave Mutambi a bass guitar as a present.
Mutambi was at a loss for words.
“I am grateful to Baba Sharo and Mai Sharo for this blessing.
“I will continue learning from them since they are my role models.
“I am grateful to them for this kind of love,” he said.
Fellow musicians Somandla Ndebele, First Farai,Progress Chipfumo and Killer T came to support Mutambi.
Killer T said Mutambi was a talented musician.
It was also refreshing to see a Zim dancehall artist gracing a sungura album launch.
“I am happy that the album launch has been done on a Thursday to afford us the opportunity to come as well.
“I would like to take this opportunity to urge fans to shun piracy and support our artists,” he said.
The album was recorded at Alema Studios by Bothwell Nyamhondera.
Some of the songs off the album, which are now popular with fans are Zvinamatire, Tariro, Dananai Kwenyu and Danwa Nemutupo.
His album launch comes at a time when Mark Ngwazi and Alick Macheso have divided opinion with their new projects.
Macheso released his 12th album, Tinosvitswa Nashe, early last month while Ngwazi came with Nharo Nezvine Nharo.
