Mail & Guardian owner and executive deputy chairperson Trevor Ncube said he was sad to be losing a key member of the team but happy at the opportunity that had been presented to Dawes.
The process of identifying suitable candidates to take over the role will begin immediately, he said.
Dawes was elected as the new chairperson of the South African National Editors’ Forum in February 2013. — News24.
