MAINLINE FC have kept faith in veteran coach Paul Moyo by retaining him in the hot seat to lead the team’s technical bench.
The Plumtree-based side are also on the verge on securing the signature of an assistant coach to work with Moyo when the 2020 Zifa Southern Region eventually kicks off at a date to be determined.
The season kick-off was delayed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, which has claimed thousands of lives worldwide.
Moyo is a championship winning coach whose long curriculum vitae includes coaching Hwange FC as well as clubs in Botswana.
“Paul Moyo remains our head coach and will be assisted by Siza Mguni and another assistant coach, whose contract we are yet to finalise. The coaches had been working with the team in preparation for the new season but we had to call off pre-season training after the outbreak of Covid-19,” said secretary general Clistone Bazaya.
Ten players moved back to their homes in Bulawayo with another four out-of-town players staying put in the border town, where the club secured lodgings for them during the lockdown imposed by the government to slow the spread of the virus.
The rest of the players are at their homes in Plumtree.
Meanwhile, the team managed to lure former Tel One forward Mostaf Ponyera to the border town.
“Ponyera joined the team during the player transfer window and we hope he will bring in the much-needed experience in attack. The players continue to train individually during the lockdown following a training regime tailored by the head coach,” Bazaya.
