Maintain peace: Chigwedere

Governor and Resident Minister for Mashonaland East province Aeneas Chigwedere said as the country was preparing to conduct its harmonised elections, the police should ensure that there was a conducive environment to ensure a peaceful electoral process.

He made the remarks while delivering a speech at the relaunch of the ZRP Support Unit Service Charter and tree planting exercise held on Friday at Gosha Primary School under chief Chikwaka in Goromonzi.

He said police should work hard during the election period to make sure that all perpetrators of violence were dealt with.
“You must ensure that the country is free from the orgy interferences by unruly elements. I am encouraging all people of this province to report and shun all forms of violence,” he said.

Governor Chigwedere urged the public to co-operate with the Support Unit.
“Let us all co-operate with the police. i encourage you all to report all cases of drowning and to continuously safeguard your children, advising them not to cross flooded rivers or swim in dams and rivers,” he said.

Governor Chigwedere challenged members of the public to join hands with the ZRP in shunning corruption.
“Let us all join hands in saying no to corruption. Anti-corruption begins with you and me. Do not allow it to spread,” he said.
