TAPERA Makadho and Onwell Mthethwa won the Legends Doubles Darts Tournament which was held at Parkview Sports Club on Friday night.  The pair won 2-1 against former Highlanders chairman, Enerst “Maphepha” Sibanda and his counterpart Edwin Sibanda in the final.
To reach the final Makadho and Mthwethwa shrugged off a challenge from Lethukuthula Nkomo and Ndabezinhle Ngwenya while Maphepha and Edwin Sibanda knocked off veteran Moses Ndlovu and Godfrey Mazonde.

The first round of the tournament was played on Wednesday night at the same venue with more than 30 pairs taking part that saw 22 pairs proceeding to the finals on Friday night.

Speaking on their progress to the final, Sibanda said they rode on the underdogs tag and went on to shock other seasoned players just like what Shabanie Mine did to fancied Dynamos in the BancABC Sup8r semi-final.

“It’s all because of our hard work and commitment and we are indeed happy to have reached the final,” said Sibanda.
Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Darts Association organising secretary Nkomo said the tournament was a success.
“The attendance was good and everything went on smoothly.

“The tournament has improved compared to the past when some players failed to turn up on the last day,” said Nkomo.
Nkomo challenged sponsors to come on board and support darts.
