Makandiwa to grace ‘Overcomers Convention’

Thursday to Saturday.
Pastor Talent is son to the late prominent Apostolic Faith Mission evangelist Pastor Phanuel Dzangare Chiweshe, who mentored Prophet Makandiwa.
Gospel musicians Mahendere Brothers and Diva Mafunga will entertain the congregation that will attend the convention.

“The theme of the three-day convention is derived from 1 John, Chapter 5 verse 4 which says: ‘For everyone born of God overcomes the world. For everyone born of God overcomes the world . . . We are saying that people can overcome all the challenges they face by having faith in God,” Pastor Talent said.
He said he decided to invite Prophet Makandiwa as a guest because of the close relationship they have had over the years.
“Prophet Makandiwa is coming in to support and preach. He has been there as a friend before we founded this mission (Life House International Church).

“This convention is an invitation to everyone to come together and receive blessings. This is going to be an inter-denominational gathering because we want to abolish walls of denominations and be family orientated in our faith.
“We want people to shift their focus from individualism to God,’ he said.
Pastor Talent, who has shared the pulpit with other renowned preachers like Reverend Manjoro among others, said there was nothing wrong in the mushrooming of new ministries for as long as they served the purpose of disseminating God’s word.

“I don’t rebuke the emergence of new ministries because doing so is tantamount to denying the word of God. It the motive behind the starting of ministries which is important, you don’t have to start it for money or fame but it should be a calling from God.
“There is a ministry that I don’t have that someone has and it starts with the divine gift,” he said.

He added: “There is a major shift in terms of favour of God. We are now seeing God’s manifestation in Africa. We have had foreign ministries but now Africa is maximising the moment,” said Pastor Talent.
Pastor Talent is one of the country’s youngest pastors and is poised to fill in his father’s shoes.

He cut his pastoral teeth under his father’s tutelage in the AFM Zimbabwe, before deciding to launch his own ministry, Lifehouse International Church, whose provisional base of worship is the State Lottery Hall in Harare.
The ministry is only three months old.
