Make use of spiritual weapons

Pauline Matanda

“TAKE up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” — Ephesians 6: 16-17

Today, we want to talk about the spiritual weapons that we have been given to fight the battles we face in our lives.

The scriptures remind us that we are engaged in spiritual battles and just as a soldier must be equipped with the right weapons to face the enemy, we too must make use of the spiritual weapons that God has provided for us.

The shield of faith is our protection against attacks by the enemy.

When doubt, fears and temptations come our way, we can hold up our shield of faith, trusting in God’s promises and knowing that He is our protector and defender.

Faith can move mountains for us.

We just have to believe what God promised us through His word.

The helmet of salvation emphasises the hope we have in Christ.

It guards our minds against the lies and deceptions of the enemy, reminding us that we are saved, loved and cherished by our Heavenly Father.

The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, is our offensive weapon.

When we face spiritual battles, we can wield the truth of God’s word, speaking it out loud and declaring it over our lives and circumstances. It is a powerful weapon that has the ability to cut through the lies of the enemy and bring light and truth into the darkness.

As we face the challenges and struggles of life, let us remember that we are not defenceless.

We have been given powerful spiritual weapons to fight our battles. Let us take up these weapons; let us put on the full armour of God and stand strong in His power.

So, learn to use the spiritual weapons.

Your battle is not against flesh and blood (humans) but wicked spiritual forces.

May we be encouraged and empowered to walk in victory, knowing that with God on our side and with the spiritual weapons He has given us, we are more than conquerors.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
