FORMER Insiza South Member of Parliament, Siyabonga Malandu Ncube, has died.
Malandu Ncube was a national executive member of the Welshman Ncube-led MDC until his defection to the MDC-T led by Morgan Tsvangirai last month.
His friend and former Gwanda North MP Thandeko Zinti said Ncube died after being admitted to the Hillside Premier Medical Centre yesterday afternoon.
“I can confirm that Malandu died this afternoon at the Hillside Premier Medical Centre. He was taken to the hospital three weeks ago after he fell ill,” said Zinti, without giving details.
“I phoned this afternoon to check on him and a relative informed me that he had died. I’m yet to get details about the funeral arrangements.”
Sources close to the former MP told Chronicle that he succumbed to pneumonia.
Two years ago, Malandu Ncube was dragged to court by a journalist who accused him of infecting her with HIV. The former MP appealed against a magistrate’s order to undergo a monitored HIV test, and the matter was still pending.
