BLACK Mambas kept alive their battle to beat the relegation axe by thrashing Tripple B in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Morris yesterday. The police outfit had all but sealed the tie in the first half when they raced to a big lead. Nicholas Alifandika headed them into the lead in the ninth minute, Tendai Chinungo doubled the lead and Kasimero Chimbadzo put the game beyond the visitors.
Tripple B came back a better side after the break but for all their efforts they fell further behind when Nhlanhla Ncube made it 4-0 for the hosts.
Maxwell Mavuto got a consolation for the visitors in stoppage time.
Black Mambas assistant coach, Martin Bonyongwe, said this victory could prove decisive.
“We managed to utilise the chances that came our way,” Bonyongwe said.
“We are still fighting relegation and winning at this point is good as we have enhanced our chances of surviving.
“We now look forward to our next game against Dynamos and, hopefully, we will survive the chop.
“The players had the right attitude coming into the game although they went to sleep in the second half.”
Tripple B coach, Peter Manoti, said they were now using young players preparing for life in Division One next year.
“Our idea is to build for next season as we have already been relegated,” said Manoti.
