Mambondiyani leaves Steward Bank

HARARE — Steward Bank chairman, Mr Bernard Chidzero, has confirmed the departure of chief executive officer, Dr Lance Mambondiani (pictured).

In a letter addressed to the bank’s staff Mr Chidzero said the CEO had resigned and that 31 May 2019 was his last day at work.

He thanked Dr Mambondiani for his role in helping transform the bank in pursuit of its digital strategy.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Econet dismissed speculation suggesting that Dr Mambondiani had been fired for alleged misuse of foreign currency.

“That is not true. He resigned and we wish him well. There is no case of foreign exchange misuse that we are aware of,” the spokesman said.

He also added that no other executives had left the bank.
