FIFA Development Officer for Southern and Eastern Africa, Ashford Mamelodi, is in the country conducting an induction workshop for the new Zifa board members. Mamelodi arrived on Sunday and hosted the first session yesterday while today will be the final day at the Zifa Training Centre in Mt Hampden. Zifa communications manager Xolisani Gwesela yesterday said the workshop was meant to equip the football leadership with the skills required in running the sport.
“We are pleased to be hosting Ashford Mamelodi from Fifa, who is facilitating a workshop for our board members.
“This workshop is meant to introduce the board members to Fifa. The other purpose of the workshop is to prepare the board members for their tenure which will run for the next four years,” said Gwesela.
Cuthbert Dube was elected as board president after defeating Leslie Gwindi, Trevor Carelese-Juul and Nigel Munyati.
Omega Sibanda is the vice president with Ben Gwarada, John Phiri, Tawengwa Hara, Miriam Sibanda and Fungai Chihuri the board members.
Chief executive Jonathan Mashingaidze is an ex-officio member of the board.
“The board members are being taken through statues on football governance. So here they are looking at the Zifa and the Fifa statues,” said Gwesela.
Last month, Zifa held an induction workshop of its secretariat from across the provinces and regional offices.
