Man (21) steals granny’s property

STEALING granny’s property worth $90 landed a 21-year-old Chipinge man a 10-month jail term. Mike Simango of House Number 4676, Gaza Township, Chipinge appeared before Chipinge magistrate, Mr Vusomuzi Gapara facing theft charges and pleaded guilty. Mr Gapara sentenced him to 10 months imprisonment and one month was suspended on condition that he restitutes the complainant $26 before July 15.

Prosecuting, Mr Witness Nyamundaya said on December 28, 2014 at around 8pm, Simango broke into Selina (74)’s House Number 1923, Gaza Township, Chipinge house and stole a DSTV decoder, black and white pot, 2kgs sugar, 2-litres cooking oil and 2kgs rice.

Linda Mlambo was arrested by CID details from Southerton, Harare after she was found in possession of the stolen DSTV decoder. Mlambo implicated Simango. Simango was arrested and property worth $75 was recovered.
