A 25-YEAR-OLD Gwanda man has appeared in court facing allegations of sodomising his 15-year-old cousin.
The man who cannot be named for ethical reasons pleaded not guilty to aggravated indecent assault when he appeared before Gwanda Regional Magistrate, Ms Sithembiso Ndebele. He was remanded in custody to October 15 for trial.
Prosecuting, Ms Zanele Sithole said the accused person sodomised the complainant after he had visited his home.
“On an unknown date in August this year the complainant went to the accused person’s place of residence to visit and he found him alone. When the complainant was about to leave the accused invited him into his bedroom. The accused person pushed the complainant on his bed.
“He removed the complainant’s short and sodomised him. He threatened the complainant and told him that if he reported the matter he would beat him up and deny the allegations,” he said.
Ms Sithole said the complainant did not report the matter at home but told his friend at school. He said the complainant’s friend further reported the matter to their teacher who then confronted the complainant.
Ms Sithole said the complainant revealed what transpired. The matter was further reported to the complainant’s mother. A report was filed with the police leading to the arrest of the accused person.
