A Bulilima man and his friend stripped his 17-year-old girlfriend naked and severely assaulted her with a knobkerrie together with her 16-year-old lover after he found the two lovebirds in the girl’s bedroom hut.
Nkosilesisa Moyo, 27, and Peter Ncube, 20, of Sinotsi area in Bulilima force marched the teenage boy and the 17-year-old girl to their homestead where Ncube stabbed the boy in his hand.
They then ordered the two teenagers to lie on the ground half-naked and thoroughly beat them as punishment after accusing the girl of cheating on Moyo.
Moyo and Ncube were each sentenced to 24 months imprisonment after they were convicted of two counts of assault by Plumtree magistrate, Gideon Ruvetsa.
They will, however, serve 18 months each in prison after six months of their sentence was suspended on condition of good behaviour.
Ruvetsa condemned the actions of the two men.
“You assaulted these two youngsters in a harsh manner and to make matters worse, you severely assaulted the girl, who is a defenceless person, with a dangerous weapon. It’s obvious from your actions that you had the intention of hurting her. You didn’t care to what extent you hurt the girl. A case of assault is very severe and you both deserve a jail sentence,” he said.
