A 28 YEAR-OLD sex starved Chipinge man was on Wednesday arraigned before the courts for allegedly raping a teenager (15).
James Sithole of Mwandifura Village under Chief Mutema’s area appeared before Chipinge magistrate Mr Noah Gwatidzo facing rape charges.
He was not asked to plead and was denied bail.
Prosecuting, Mr Witness Nyamundaya, said on December 28 last year around 2pm, Sithole met the complainant from the same village on her way to Gaza Township.
He allegedly proposed love to her, but was turned down.
“The accused person proceeded to accompany the complainant using the Chipinge Prison road. While on their way, Sithole grabbed the complainant by the right hand and dragged her into the bush approximately 50 metres from the road.
“The complainant tried to resist, but he pushed her to the ground and raped her twice. The complainant screamed for help, but no one came to her rescue,” he said.
Mr Nyamundaya said after the act, Sithole told the complainant that if she reveals the matter to anyone, he would tell the police that the complainant was his wife.
“The complainant proceeded to Gaza Township where she phoned her mother and told her about the rape.
“A report was made to the police and the complainant was referred to Chipinge District Hospital and she was examined by the doctor who confirmed that she had been raped,” said Mr Nyamundaya.
A manhunt was launched for Sithole and was eventually arrested recently.
