A 47-YEAR OLD man from Nyamandlovu has been sentenced after being charged with indecent assault for making a four-year-old Early Childhood Development (ECD) juvenile caress his manhood.
Douglas Dube, from Mboleni Village appeared before Bulawayo Magistrate Maxwell Ncube, who sentenced him to 24 months in prison, with six months suspended on the condition of good behaviour, leaving an effective sentence of 18 months.
According to Prosecutor Mehluli Ndlovu, the incident occurred on 25 June during the day.
The complainant, an ECD student at Deli Primary School, was on her way to school when she encountered Dube.
He grabbed the complainant by the hand and told her that he loved her.
Dube then lifted her and, despite her cries, proceeded to a nearby bush with her.
Once there, he unzipped his trousers, exposing himself.
Dube instructed and assisted the complainant in caressing his manhood while simultaneously kissing her nose and reiterating his affection.
After the distressing incident, Dube carried the complainant on his back and escorted her home.
Upon arrival, the complainant shared what had happened with her brother.
Her brother informed their grandmother, about the incident.
The complainant and her grandmother went to ZRP Nyamandlovu on June 30 to file a report regarding the assault.
