A 20-year-old Gwanda man allegedly forced his way into the room of his parent’s tenants and raped two of their daughters aged eight and six.
The man appeared before Matabeleland South provincial magistrate-in-charge Mr Douglas Vakayi Chikwekwe on Friday facing charges of rape. He was not asked to plead but was advised to apply to the High Court for bail.

Allegations against the man are that on an unknown date but sometime between January and March this year and during the night, he used duplicate keys to gain entry into the room where the complainants were sleeping.

The accused allegedly took advantage of fact that the complainants’ parents were not around.
It is alleged that once inside the room, the accused undressed the two complainants and raped them one after the other.

It is also said that during the alleged rape the six year old screamed for help but the accused person silenced her by slapping her once on the cheek.

The matter came to light when the complainants narrated their ordeal when they visited their aunt in Bulawayo during the school holidays in April.

The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the accused person.
Mr Jefta Nyikadzinashe prosecuted.
