POLICE in Bulawayo have arrested a 33-year-old man in connection with a murder case following a dispute over money from the sale of a watch.
The suspect, Zibusiso Ndlovu of Nketa 9, allegedly assaulted Tonderai Blessing Sithole (53) of Nketa 6 after accusing him of withholding his share of the proceeds from the sale.
According to Bulawayo Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, on March 11, 2026 in the morning, Ndlovu and the now deceased left Ndlovu’s residence and went to the Bulawayo City centre.
Later that evening, at around 7:30PM, the accused reportedly returned home alone, said Insp Msebele.
“At about 10PM, Sithole arrived at Ndlovu’s residence where a misunderstanding arose between the two over money from the watch sale. During the altercation, Ndlovu allegedly assaulted Sithole several times with a log, a small axe and a wooden handle, inflicting visible injuries all over his body,” said Insp Msebele.
She said the suspect then kept the injured man at his residence and attempted to nurse his wounds without informing anyone, adding that three days later, at around 3AM, Sithole’s condition reportedly deteriorated, prompting Ndlovu to inform the deceased’s mother.
“An ambulance was called to the scene but the victim was already dead upon arrival.
A police report was subsequently made, leading to the arrest of the suspect,” said Insp Msebele.
She urged members of the public to avoid resorting to violence when resolving disputes, warning that such actions often result in unnecessary loss of life.
