Man arrested for robbery after threatening teenager with a Knife

A MAN from Cowdray Park suburb in Bulawayo has appeared in court facing a charge of robbery after he threatened to stab a 16-year-old boy and stole his cellphone.

Shaun Banda appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Maxwell Ncube facing a charge of robbery. He pleaded guilty to the charge and was remanded to 31 January for sentencing.

The court heard that on 18 January 2023 at around 2 pm, close to a college that is located along Old Victoria Falls road, Banda met the victim walking with a friend who was picking up an umbrella.

He searched the boy and stole his Itel cellphone, he proceeded to the victim’s female friend and searched her but he failed to find anything to steal.

Banda then fled the scene and the victim gave chase but he threatened to stab him with a knife.

The victim ran to a nearby college where he informed some security guards who helped him catch Banda.

The guards handed Banda over to the police.
