Man arrested with dagga weighing more than 300grams

A 39-YEAR-OLD man was convicted by a Mutare Magistrate on charges of unlawful possession of dagga.

In a statement on X, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said police received a tip-off to the effect that Farai Mupereki was in possession of dagga at Penhalonga Business Centre. The Police acted on the tip-off and proceeded to the business centre where they spotted Mupereki standing by the side of the road carrying a black satchel.

“They approached him and identified themselves before they requested to search him. Mupereki surrendered the black satchel which contained 5 big sachets as well as 27 small sachets of dagga leading to his arrest. The dagga weighed 361.5 grams”.

“He was convicted and sentenced to US$350 fine, in default of payment, 90 days imprisonment, “said NPAZ
