Man assaults sister over boyfriend

A PLUMTREE man was lucky to escape a jail term for kicking his pregnant sister in the stomach for ignoring his orders not to bring her boyfriend home.

For that, Vusa Ndlovu (31) of Thandawana village in Madlambudzi was fined $20 in default of which he was supposed to go to jail for 30 days.

Ndlovu was convicted on his own plea of guilty to domestic violence when he appeared before Plumtree resident magistrate Taurai Manwere on Tuesday.

In his statement, he admitted to have assaulted his pregnant younger sister, Sitshengisiwe Ndlovu after she refused to take his orders not to bring her boyfriend home.

a�?I told her not to call her boyfriend to come to our homestead. However, she insisted that she will bring him and we had a misunderstanding and I assaulted her with a switch,a�? said Ndlovu.

Prosecutor, Butholezwe Bhebhe told the court that Ndlovu and Sitshengisiwe were at their homestead when Ndlovu told her that he did not want to see her boyfriend at home.

However, the younger sister insisted that she would continueA� entertaining her lovebird at the homestead since he was the one who impregnated her.

Ndlovu went into a fit of rage and started assaulting her with fists on the face and she fell down.

He continued assaulting her while on the ground and went on to kick her on the mouth.

As if that was not enough, Ndlovu, the court heard, also went on to kick the pregnant woman in the stomach with booted feet several times.

She ran to Madlambudzi police base where she made a report, leading to Ndlovua��s arrest.

She was referred to hospital for treatment but a medical report showing the degree of her injuries was not compiled or submitted in court.
