Man assaults wife over used condom

A 40-YEAR-OLD man from Mberengwa will spend the next three months in prison if he fails to pay $90 after he was convicted of assaulting his 30-year-old wife over a used condom he found in their bedroom. Kainos Shumba of Chokushinga Village, Chief Mahlebadza of Mberengwa, appeared before Mberengwa resident magistrate Mrs Evia Matura facing one count of physical abuse.

Shumba pleaded guilty. He said he was sure that his wife Betserai Ndlovu, a mother of three, had brought a boyfriend home and he had used a condom since they do not use such protection.

“We do not use condoms with my wife and I stumbled upon one, which meant she invited a boyfriend into our bedroom and had sexual intercourse. When I asked her about it, she just picked it up and went out,” he said. Mrs Matura fined Shumba $90 or three months in jail if he fails to pay.
