A BULAWAYO man last week produced in court a map outlining the roads he wanted his ex-girlfriend banned from using, saying she was tormenting him after he refused to marry her.
Donald Kayembe of Montrose suburb produced the map while seeking a protection order against his ex-girlfriend, Rachel Chuma, a general worker at Mpilo Hospital, after she allegedly assaulted him.
Kayembe and Chuma broke up five years ago.
However, Chuma did not attend the hearing.
Kayembe told a Bulawayo magistrate, Ms Evelyn Mashavakure, that the map he drafted was going to help the court bar Chuma from using the streets surrounding his home.
Ms Mashavakure turned down Kayembe’s request and told him that he was not the owner of the streets.
“I cannot bar her from using those roads and you do not own the streets. I can only bar her from coming to your place of residence.
“She is also ordered not to physically abuse you, verbally abuse or threaten you in anyway. She is also ordered not to interfere with your life,” the magistrate said.
Kayembe said Chuma turned violent after he refused to marry her.
“She told me that I should now marry her because my wife is now late and I refused. She said if I don’t marry her she will continue to beat me.
“We also have disputes over our two children. On 11 March after our court hearing I gave her the children in compliance with the court ruling.
“Despite the court ruling she came to my house again and continued with her threats. On 29 April she punched me in the face in public.
She has been throwing stones at me and this other day she damaged my car. I want her to stop coming to my place of residence and to stop throwing stones at me,” Kayembe said.
