A MUTARE man has been dragged to court by his girlfriend for beating her up after she refused to be intimate with him.
Progress Chirinze is now seeking a protection order against Tapiwanashe Madzinga (26) whom she is accusing of pestering her.
Mutare magistrate Ms Perseverance Makala heard the matter.
Prosecuting, Mr Tafadzwa Chiwanza said on August 9 around 11pm, the accused went to his girlfriend’s place and demanded to be intimate with her.
“His demands were turned down and this did not go down well with him. The accused then beat up his girlfriend all over the body using a belt,” said Mr Chiwanza.
Mr Chiwanza said Chirinze sustained injuries from the assault.
Madzinga admitted that he beat up his girlfriend, accusing her of cheating on him with his friend.
Ms Makala sternly warned Madzinga for his conduct, which is tantamount to gender-based violence.
He was fined $5 000.
