A Nyamandlovu man is battling for life at Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo after two villagers allegedly stabbed him on the stomach leaving his intestines protruding.
The court was told that Mr Promise Ndlovu’s alleged assailants, Panana Ndebele and Oscar Nkomo were angered by the fact that he was walking at night.
This was when they met him at about 11.30pm on his way home from Dlula Business Centre where he had gone for a beer drink.
Ndebele and Nkomo, who were also coming from the same bottle store and had used a different route, are now facing a charge of attempted murder.
They appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Abednico Ndebele recently and the case wa postponed to 29 August as the court is waiting for a medical report to determine the degree of Mr Ndlovu’s injuries.
Ndebele (29) and Nkomo (26) both from Dlula Village in Nyamandlovu were remanded in custody and advised to apply to the High Court for bail.
The State would seek to prove that on 11 August, Mr Ndlovu went to Mahova Bottle Store at Dlula Business Centre to drink beer.
Ndebele and Nkomo were also at the bottle store and the two left at 11pm going home.
It is alleged that Mr Ndlovu left a few moments after Ndebele and Nkomo and caught up with them on the way.
The two allegedly demanded to know what he was doing at night.
Mr Ndlovu allegedly did not respond and that infuriated the two who pounced on him.
The court was told that Ndebele allegedly slapped Mr Ndlovu.
Nkomo allegedly drew a knife from the pocket of his trousers and stabbed him three times on the stomach resulting in his intestines protruding.
Mr Ndlovu fell to the ground while screaming and his alleged attackers fled from the scene.
Villagers from nearby homesteads heard him screaming and rushed to his rescue. They took him to hospital.
A report was made to the police leading to Ndebele and Nkomo’s arrest.
