Man beds Grade Six pupil

Court Reporter
An 18-year-old man was on Friday arraigned before the courts for being intimate with a Grade Six pupil. Michael Muchena appeared before Mbare magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma facing charges of having sexual intercourse with a minor. Ms Tshuma remanded Muchena to tomorrow on $50 bail. Muchena, who is a tenant at the 14-year-old girl’s house, claimed the minor lied she was 17 years old.

“She is my girlfriend and she told me that she is 17 not 14.

“Besides, she was not a virgin, that is why I had sex with her,” Muchena said.

Prosecutor Ms Mirirai Mavema alleged that on April 12 this year, Muchena proposed love to the girl and she agreed.

The two agreed to meet the following day in Muchena’s room.

They had unprotected sex.

The court heard that the offence came to light when the girl was interrogated by other tenants who saw her leaving Muchena’s room.

The concerned tenants told the girl’s mother.

The case was reported to the police leading to Muchena’s arrest.
