A 24-YEAR-OLD man who is married to a 46-year-old woman has appeared before a Bulawayo magistrate, facing a physical abuse charge.
Luwin Muzamba appeared for trial before magistrate, Makelo Ncube and pleaded guilty to the charge. The magistrate convicted and slapped him with a US$60 fine, which has to be paid by 31 May, failure to which he will be thrown behind bars for two months.
In sentencing him, the magistrate considered that Muzamba pleaded guilty and did not waste the court’s time. The court also considered that Muzamba was a first-time offender and he admitted that his wife Chipo Tauzen caught him kissing and cuddling his mistress.
Pleading for leniency, Muzamba admitted that he disrespected and angered his wife as he had brought his secret lover to their family home.
The court heard that on 18 April at around 1140 pm, Muzamba brought his mistress home and started to cuddle and kiss her. Unfortunately, his wife arrived home unexpectedly and caught them while together.
An argument broke out and in a fit of rage, Muzamba reached for an iron bar and severely attacked Tauzen and she fell to the ground. After a few minutes, she gained consciousness and went to a police station where she reported the incident. Muzamba was later arrested.
