A 43-YEAR-OLD man from Mzilikazi suburb in Bulawayo reportedly committed suicide after being summoned to court following a dispute with his wife over infidelity.
The deceased, Bhekimpilo Mpofu, was found hanging from a roof truss in his house and court summons were recovered from his trouser’s pocket.
According to reports, the deceased had been summoned to court on 20 May 2024, in relation to a marital dispute.
On 17 May, the deceased came home drunk at around 10pm and he found their helper and children sleeping in the kitchen.
The deceased enquired on the whereabouts of his wife but nobody seemed to know and this angered him.
He attempted to hang himself but was rescued by the maid who screamed and alerted the neighbours.
After a while, the helper retired to bed and the deceased hanged himself.
The deceased’s wife returned home later that night and that is when they realised that Ndlovu had hanged himself in the bedroom.
Bulawayo Police Spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and urged the public to seek counselling in resolving issues.
“We received a report of a man from Mzilikazi who committed suicide by hanging and we urge the public to resolve their differences by seeking counselling from the church, relatives and friends when they are faced with difficult situations,” he said.
