In a bizarre incident that left villagers shell-shocked a Chipinge man butchered his wife in cold blood in an apparent fit of rage.
Kudzai Ndongwe murdered his wife, Tsenekai Mabika last Sunday at Mbeure Village.
The incident which occurred at a local borehole happened in the full view of villagers who failed to restrain the marauding Ndongwe.
He was subsequently arrested by members of the neighbourhood watch committee.
It was not certain the motive behind the murder but some said the suspect was once a mental patient.
“Kudzai had a mental problem before he got married but everyone thought he was now normal after he stayed with his wife peacefully for years,” said a villager who requested anonymity.
A ward councillor Mr Charles Mugidho said the murder was unfortunate saying couples should respect each other and try to solve domestic problems amicably by seeking advice.
