A 45-year-old man from Zvimba, Mashonaland West province, has been fined US$150 by the Karoi Magistrates’ Court for smuggling goods from Zambia into Zimbabwe.

Arnold Chivhanga was caught by police officers from ZRP Chirundu on 16 May 2025, at around 10am, with a stash of smuggled goods valued at ZWL3,719.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority, the seized items included Dichlorvos Bloom insecticides, Snow Tiger Insecticide, Forceful Insecticide, Snow Crown Insecticides, and Snow VIT Sulphur Powder.

Chivhanga failed to produce declaration documents for the goods, leading to their seizure and his arrest.

The court ordered Chivhanga to pay a fine of US$150, with a one-month imprisonment term hanging over his head should he default on payment. The smuggled goods will be forfeited to the State.
