A man blames goblins for his alleged habit of selling his grandmother’s property to fund his drug addiction.

Armstrol Nyondoro was dragged to court by his grandmother, Mary Nyakupariwa, who sought a protection order against him.

The grandmother alleged that her grandson has been selling her property without her consent, using the money to buy drugs, and later insulting and assaulting her.

“Armstrol has been selling my property, including my television, sofa and trays without my permission.

“He uses the money to buy drugs, and when I confront him, he becomes violent and insults me.

“Sometimes he assaults me and brings his friends home who end up stealing money from my bedroom.

In response, Armstrol claimed that he was not responsible for his actions and blames goblins.

“Goblins have been possessing me, forcing me to sell my grandmother’s property,” he told the court.

“I am  not in control of my actions when they take over.”

Presiding magistrate Meenal Naratom was sceptical of Armstrol’s claims.

“How can goblins force you to sell your grandmother’s property?” she asked.

The accused replied,

“They whisper in my ear, telling me to do bad things. I try to resist, but they are too powerful.”

The court granted Mary a protection order barring Armstrol from selling his grandmother’s property without her consent.
