AN enraged Bulawayo man stormed into his married girlfriend’s matrimonial home on Christmas Day and clobbered her in front of her husband for spoiling what promised to be a thrilling romantic night, a magistrate heard.
Prosecutors said Khulekani Ntini, 29, of Bulawayo’s Iminyela suburb became angry when he found his girlfriend, Thandanani Khumalo, 29, in the arms of her husband at their home in neighbouring Pelandaba suburb.
Khumalo had invited Ntini to her house in Pelandaba for a romp after she had convinced him that her husband would be away on that particular night.
“On Christmas Day at about 11PM, Khulekani Ntini visited Thandanani Khumalo at her house in Pelandaba and found her with her husband,” said Kingston Mkanganwi, prosecuting.
Western Commonage provincial resident magistrate Willard Maphios Moyo heard how the infuriated Ntini confronted his girlfriend demanding to know why she had invited him to her home knowing that her husband was around.
Ntini and Khumalo started arguing over the issue.
The court heard that Ntini flew into rage and punched Khumalo in the face while her unidentified husband watched helplessly.
Khumalo sustained facial bruises and she had to be rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment.
Ntini will however, not face the prison walls as the magistrate sentenced him to do community service.
He was convicted on his own plea of guilty to assault and sentenced to 12 months in jail of which four months were suspended for five years on condition that he does not within that period commit a similar offence.
The remaining eight months were further suspended on condition that he performs 280 hours of community service starting Monday next week at Western Commonage Police Station.
