Man collapses, dies during healing session

Joseph Ncube of Maphulibisi Line in Tsholotsho died at about 2am on Sunday during a conference organised by an apostolic church.

Officer commanding Lupane police district Chief Superintendent Johannes Govo confirmed the incident yesterday which happened under Chief Gampu.

“We received a report of a 70-year-old man who had been ill for about six years though we could not establish what disease he was suffering from.

“He decided to seek treatment from a renowned church in his village, which was conducting a conference and healing session at the weekend,” said Chief Supt Govo.

He said the church conference was going on well until about 2 am when Ncube started frothing from the mouth.

“At around 2 am on Sunday during a healing session, Ncube started frothing from the mouth and before he could be attended to, he collapsed and died.

“Congregants tried in vain to resuscitate him and they then made a report to Tsholotsho Police who attended the scene,” said Chief Supt Govo.
He said investigations were still under way.
