A MABVUKU man took rat poison and died after losing a ball used for an eight-ball pool, on Saturday.
Takunda Maroyizingoni, of Mubanga Street in Mabvuku, was working as a shopkeeper and known for his love for the game of pool.
His cousin brother, Alfred Gavaza, was called to the tuck shop and went in the company of his sister, Mary Maroyizingoni.
They found Takunda battling with severe pain.
“We gave him water to drink and he took it,” said Alfred.
“He started vomiting and upon asking what had happened he confessed taking three rat poison tablets because he lost one snooker ball.
“He said he failed to locate the ball and decided to take his life.”
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the tragedy saying investigations have since begun.
“Police are investigating a case where a Mabvuku man was reported to have downed rat poison,” said Insp Chakanza.
“He was taken to Parirenyatwa Hospital at around 2100hrs where he was admitted and died the following day.”
