A MAN has been found hanging after a late night row with neighbours over the volume of his radio. Asel Homerai (26), a farm worker from Mvuma, is believed to have been so incensed by a request to lower his radio’s volume that he was driven to suicide. His body was found hanging early Sunday near the farm workers’ quarters at Central Estates in the Midlands town.
Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko told Chronicle last night: “Mr Homerai was listening to music from his radio while relaxing in his bedroom when his workmates asked him to lower the volume.
“An argument arose between Homerai and another workmate after he initially declined to lower the volume.
“But the argument was resolved and Homerai lowered the volume. The following morning, another farm worker who had gone to relieve himself discovered Homerai’s body hanging from a tree inside the yard of their compound.
“Our officers attended the scene and the deceased’s body was taken to Mvuma Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.”
Inspector Mahoko appealed to the public to “seek advice from third parties whenever they are involved in arguments.”
In an unrelated incident, a 29-year-old man died on the spot after he fell from the loading box of a truck.
Insp Mahoko said the incident occurred on Sunday at about 6pm along a gravel road in Silobela.
“Richard Sandura of Musina Village under Chief Malisa was seated on the edge of a moving T35 truck when he fell headlong. He was run over by the right rear wheels of the truck after he fell to the ground. He died on the spot,” he said.
