Man commits suicide over T-shirt

Monday after his ex-girlfriend refused to give him back a T-Shirt he had bought her.
It is reported that the duo had a misunderstanding following their break-up on Sunday morning near the local business centre.
Khumbulani Mdau had demanded that his 23-year old ex-girlfriend give him back everything he had bought her except the T-Shirt.
The altercation was resolved on the same day after the intervention of Mdau’s friend.
However, the following day Mdau approached the girl who was wearing the contentious T-Shirt and ordered her to take it off at the shopping centre in full view of the public.
The woman resisted and he threatened to assault her, but was restrained by his friends.
Mdau then went to his homestead where he wrote a suicide note stating that he was taking his life because the ex-girlfriend had refused to give him back his T-Shirt.
He hung himself from the roof of his kitchen hut using a wire. His body was discovered by a relative who then informed the police.
Mdau’s body was conveyed to Beitbridge District hospital pending a post-mortem.
Police officer commanding Beitbridge District Chief Superintendent Lawrence Chinhengo confirmed the incident yesterday adding that they suspected no foul play.
A few weeks back a 35-year- old Beitbridge man hanged himself from the roof of his house as a way of dealing with his wife’s “misconduct.”
