Man defrauds ZEC

Brighton Chavhundike of 8783 in Unit K reportedly received US$70 as part payment for attending the training.
He had misrepresented himself as a civil servant.

Chavhundike was not asked to plead when he appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Lazarus Murendo facing fraud charges.
Mr Murendo deferred the matter to March 28 for trial.

ZEC is represented by Eunice Chikumbirike of Zengeza 5.

Allegations are that on March 11, Chavhundike went to ZEC officials at the Aquatic Complex in Chitungwiza where he misrepresented that he was employed at Chitungwiza hospital as a clerk and wanted to train as a referendum polling officer.

He allegedly received US$70 as part payment on preparations for the poll.
A ZEC official Chipo Mandiona went to the hospital to verify if Chavhundike was their employee.

She discovered that Chavhundike was discharged from the hospital in October 2011.
Chavhundike was arrested when he reported for duty at Seke 2 polling station during deployment on March 15.
