A MAN from Silobela in the Midlands Province was found dead in his bed on Monday morning following a marathon drinking session where he allegedly consumed undiluted illicit alcohol throughout.
The deceased has been identified as Talent Muferi (33) of Mpala Complex at Loreto Business Centre.
According to a source close to the incident, Muferi spent the entire day on Sunday drinking the undiluted alcohol at the business centre. By evening, he was heavily intoxicated and could barely stand on his own.
“He was heavily drunk. At around 6pm, a concerned friend had to help him and escort him back to his room, where he left him asleep on his bed,” said the source.
Tragedy struck the following morning at around 9am when a visitor discovered Muferi lying motionless in his bed.
Realising that he was unresponsive, a report was quickly made to the police, who attended the scene.
Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed that investigations into the sudden death are currently underway.
He issued a stern warning to the public regarding extreme alcohol consumption.
“We call upon members of the community to control their drinking habits as well as guard against drug and substance abuse,” said Insp Mahoko.
