Man faces 12 counts of theft

A SERIAL housebreaker who allegedly stole goods worth thousands of dollars in the western suburbs of Bulawayo last year is facing 12 counts of unlawful entry and theft after a stealing spree in which he broke into six houses.Simon Dunduwaya, 31, pleaded guilty to the charges when he appeared before the Western Commonage magistrate Willard Maphios Moyo on Wednesday. He was remanded in custody to April 14.

Prosecuting Mufaro Mageza told the court Dunduwaya used iron bars to break into people’s houses at night before stealing.

The State’s case is that in December last year Dunduwaya opened a closed window with an iron bar at a house in Pumula South where he stole five blankets and car keys.

On January, 21, Dunduwaya went to a house in Nkulumane where he used an iron bar to gain entry and stole four men’s suits, DVD player, Tedelex 21-inch colour TV, 950 watts generator, seven pairs of ladies shoes, 15 water glass and two blankets.

On January 27, he opened a locked door to a house using an iron bar in Pumula South and stole groceries worth $100, a tablet PC Android, 1Lumia Nokia cell phone,18 chickens and $20 cash. On January, 28, he went to a house in Nkulumane and opened a locked door, stole a blanket and a pair of safety shoes.

The same day he proceeded to another Nkulumane house, opened a window and stole a 32-inch plasma TV, 18 dinner plates and four ladies jeans, a Samsung galaxy cellphone, a pair of ladies takkies and clothes.

The following day Dunduwaya used the same modus operandi in Nkulumane where he opened a tuck shop and stole some goods.
