Man falls off scaffolding

A construction worker died after he fell off a 10-metre scaffolding while he was working at a building under construction in the Workington Industrial area in Harare.A co-worker who also fell, sustained injuries.  The incident occurred on Tuesday last week at Abrec Enterprise along Lyton Road.
The deceased has been identified as Leon Nakwere (18) from Kuwadzana 3, Harare.

Acting Harare provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Tarirai Dube confirmed the incident.
“Yes, we have a report of a construction worker who died after he fell from a 10-metre scaffolding he was working on with a workmate who also fell but survived,” she said.

Asst Insp Dube said the two were working on a rooftop when a roof suddenly collapsed on them and they fell from the scaffolding 10 metres high.

A spokesman for the company confirmed the incident, saying they would issue a statement after ongoing investigations have been completed.

The company assisted with medical and funeral expenses and promised to assist the deceased’s family access help from its insurers.
