A CHIKANGA kombi driver was fined $100 after he breached a protection order and poured beer on his estranged wife after a confrontation at Chikanga Beer hall.Teddy Nyazika (33) pleaded guilty to the charges when he appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mr Langton Mukwengi recently.

Mr Shepherd Chavarika prosecuted.

It was the State’s case that Nyazika followed his ex-wife, Rose Nyazika to Chikanga Beer hall and a fight erupted which ended with Nyazika pouring beer on her head.

“By assaulting the complainant and pouring beer on her, the accused acted unlawfully and breached the order that was granted between them. The Civil Court found out that he was violent towards his wife and that is why the order was granted, by so doing he breached the standing order,” said Mr Chavarika.

Asked on why he had acted unlawfully by breaching the court’s order, Nyazika apologised to the court and claimed that he still loved his wife.

“I love my wife Your Worship. I just want her back again. I got angry when she turned her back on me which prompted me to act unlawfully as I did,” he said.

He went on to tell the court that the protection order had been granted in his absence as he was in remand prison when the order was granted.
